Performance Competitions

The AGO sponsors three performance competitions each one operating on a two year cycle. Membership in the AGO is not required. All applications are submitted online.

The National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance stretches back more than 50 years. The competition promotes the highest level of organ performance and is intended as a spring board for young artists. The application deadline for the 2016 NYACOP is October 15, 2015.

The AGO/Quimby Regional Competitions for Young Organists is sponsored by each of the seven regions of the AGO. It’s purpose is to encourage young organists to gain musical excellence and performance experience. The 2015 competitions were held at the regional conventions and are now over.

The National Competition in Organ Improvisation seeks to further the art of improvisation by recognizing and rewarding superior performances in the field. The 2016 semifinal round was held in Charlotte, N.C. in conjunction with the 2015 Southeast Regional Convention. Three finalists were selected who will compete at the final round to be held in conjunction with the 2016 AGO National Convention in Houston, Texas.
