The AGO administers a variety of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate university study, participation by young organists at the biennial National Convention, and registration for Pipe Organ Encounters participants.

PIPE ORGAN ENCOUNTER (POE) SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships for youth participants in the AGO’s Pipe Organ Encounters (POE) program are not competitive and are available based on financial need only.  Please note: Adults in the POE+ and POETech programs are not eligible.

Applications for 2027 scholarships will be available in November 2026.

POGORZELSKI-YANKEE ORGAN SCHOLAR PROGRAM

The AGO Ronald G. Pogorzelski and Lester D. Yankee Organ Scholar Program will offer emerging organists under the age of 30 the opportunity to experience an annual ten-month internship within a significant music ministry program in the United States. The 2026-27 AGO Pogorzelski-Yankee Organ Scholar will be hosted by St. George's Episcopal Church in Nashville, T.N., and will receive a $34,000 salary, $3,000 housing stipend, and health insurance.

POGORZELSKI-YANKEE SCHOLARSHIPS

The Ronald G. Pogorzelski and Lester D. Yankee Scholarship of $15,000 per year will be awarded to two students who will be enrolled full-time in a nationally or regionally accredited undergraduate institution (college, university, or conservatory) during the 2026-27 academic year. Applicants must show verifiable financial need and have a desire to commit a significant portion of the two years following graduation to teaching, performing, or other serious endeavor with respect to the organ. Past recipients may reapply, but renewal is not guaranteed.

SALISBURY SCHOLARSHIPS

The Salisbury Scholarships support full-time graduate students in their development as performers, conductors, or academics in the field of sacred music. Made possible through the generosity of Dave Kopp and Ronnie Stout-Kopp, two annual Salisbury Scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each will be awarded each year to a master’s and doctoral student, with a total annual distribution of $20,000. Past recipients may reapply but renewal of the scholarship is not guaranteed. For the 2026–27 academic year, the AGO will accept scholarship applications from qualified candidates at the master’s or doctoral level.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Past recipients may reapply, but renewal of the scholarship is not guaranteed.

NATIONAL CONVENTION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YOUNG ORGANISTS

In even years, young organists can apply for two scholarships to defray the costs of attending an AGO National Convention. The AGO National Convention Scholarship Fund for Youth/College Students, sponsored by the Houston AGO Chapter, subsidizes registration and hotel accommodations at the official convention hotel, and the Suzanne and Mark Anderson Convention Housing Scholarships for Young Professionals can be applied toward accommodations at the official convention hotel.

Applications for the 2028 Convention will be available in Winter 2028.
