Finland

Message from the Dean

Welcome to the AGO Finland Chapter web page!

The Finland Chapter promotes organ art in Finland and Finnish organ, choral, church music, pedagogy and new Finnish music in the United States. The Finland Chapter has been the driving force in organizing master classes and recitals of several distinguished American organists and choral conductors in Finland.

In recent years among others Kimberly Marshall, Kent Tritle, James David Christie, Peter Krasinski and Balint Karosi have visited Finland giving master classes and recitals at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts.

In 2019 the Finland Chapter hosted the first ever POE in Finland for a group of very talented young organists. One of our guest teachers and artists was Peter Krasinski, who gave  a master class in silent movie accompaniment. The POE was organized in conjunction with the Sibelius Summer Academy. In 2021 Balint Karosi made a very successful visit teaching the students of the Sibelius Academy Church Music and Organ Department in baroque repertoire and baroque style improvisation.

We are very much looking forward to exciting projects in the coming year and are hoping to grow a lasting bridge between Finland, Europe, and the United States in education and promotion of the art of the organ, choral and church music. You are most welcome to join our chapter and share in the experience of Nordic magic and beauty of Finnish organ art and culture!
