Colorado Springs Chapter

Message from the Dean

Welcome back fellow organists! We have a very exciting year planned for the upcoming 2022-2023 season! We will begin the year on September 17 with Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza at First Congregational Church. This is an educational and promotional event for students to build the Orgelkit, learn about the workings of the organ and to build interest for the Organ Spectacular Concert on September 18. We need volunteers to help with the event. If you would like to help, please contact David Acton at david@fcucc.org.

On Saturday, October 1st, we will be presenting the Orgelkit at the Cool Science Carnival Day at UCCS. This event is from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. There will need to be two members at the booth throughout the day and it would be great to have enough volunteers for shorter shifts. Please contact David Acton if you are interested in helping with this event as well.

On Sunday, October 30th at 3:00 PM, the Pipescreams Concert will be returning at First Christian Church! Pipescreams is an exciting Halloween concert with costumes and typically well attended by the community. If you are interested in playing for this concert, please email Zahari Metchkov at ztmetchkov@yahoo.com.

The Colorado Springs AGO chapter now has a social media presence! The AGO website has been updated with the current concert and member meetings for the upcoming year. The address for the website is: https://www.agohq.org/coloradosprings/. We also have a website designated specifically to the Orgelkit. If you’re interested in learning more, check out the website: https://orgelkitcos.weebly.com/. The new social media accounts are: American Guild of Organists – Colorado Springs Chapter on Facebook and socoago (AGO Colorado Springs) on Instagram. Please like, follow, and share these with your friends! Concerts for the AGO and member affiliations will be advertised here. If you are performing in a concert/recital, please email me the details and we will upload it on social media. We are also actively updating the pages; it would be great to have pictures of our local organs to add to the album. Please send those to Daniel Foster at dlivingston917@gmail.com to be uploaded.

I look forward to seeing you this upcoming season!

Daniel Foster

Membership

You don’t have to be an active organist or choirmaster to join the Guild. In fact, you don’t have to be a professional church musician at all. Membership in the Guild is open to all, and the only real requirement is an interest in the organ and/or sacred choral music. To become a member of the Colorado Springs Chapter, contact the Chapter Dean. See below for contact information.
