Show-and-Tell & Organ Concert
American Guild of Organists Muncie, Indiana, Chapter
March 16, 2015
Dear Teachers and Supporters of Young Musicians,
The members of the Muncie Chapter of the American Guild of Organists are joining forces with Ball State University’s School of Music and other sponsors to offer area youth and their families an opportunity to learn more about the pipe organ—specifically the magnificent instrument in Sursa Performance Hall on the Ball State campus.
Raúl Prieto Ramírez, Ball State’s energetic young organ professor, will present a fun, interactive learning session about the organ on Saturday, April 18. Students are welcome to bring their own pieces of music to “try a few bars” at the organ console. Following demonstrations, videos, and learning activities, Mr. Ramírez will play a concert on the Sursa organ. The first-hand experience with the instrument—how the sounds are made and what it feels like to play (or to be accompanied by) an organ—should help students relate much more closely to the “King of Instruments.”
Please encourage your students and their families to attend this learning event, including the refreshment break and concert—all offered free of charge:
