Notes from the Dean
As this unprecedented year comes to a close, wishes of joy and peace are extended to the members of our Metro NJ chapter and your families. The spirit of the organ is alive during this season.
Happy New Year,
Kristin Dabaghian, MM, Dean
Notes from the Sub-Dean
Greetings fellow organists,
As I write today, our long-awaited election is upon us. My prayer is for a peaceful time of acceptance and tolerance of those we disagree with to follow this most divisive period in our history. Additionally, as I write, COVID 19 cases rise around us. My prayer is for all to practice safety measures and for medical science to develop a safe and effective vaccination.
Our guild continues to support us through all of this on virtual platforms. Upcoming events include:
AGOYO Fridays at Noon EDT: https://www.youtube.com/user/guildoforganists
As well as full access to past virtual events:
Please stay safe and enjoy these programs offered by our brother and sister guild members,
Preston Dibble, Sub-Dean

Webinar: Musicians and Clergy Working Collaboratively
March 15, 2021 4:00PM EST
Description: How has the pandemic changed how clergy and musicians view their vocations to serve their congregation? What models of clergy and musician working relationships have shown strength during this time?
CMI Executive Director Dr. Charlotte and AGO Past President Dr. Eileen Guenther, along with seven clergy/musician teams selected as resident Scholars in a CMI program, who will address these questions and demonstrate best practices they have discovered for successful clergy and musician collaborations.

Membership and Directory
I missed some member news last month and I apologize! Chapter Friend Helen Raymaker has relocated from Madison to the Chicago area to be closer to family. Helen was very active in the NJ music scene and served as accompanist for the Harmonium Choral Society. Our best wishes to Helen and her family.
My only other news is a big “Thank You” from me, your membership chair. After my newsletter reminder, we are up to 94 chapter members. Ten people renewed in September. Six members missed July renewals and I will be reaching out to you!
It is easy to renew at agohq.org “Membership.” Your membership expiration date and member ID # are found on the address label of your American Organist magazine. With a rolling membership year, your renewal will be good for one year from the date of your payment. Let me know if you have questions or need help with AGO ONCARD.
If anyone has suffered financial hardship and loss of income as a result of the pandemic, the AGO has received donations to assist those who cannot afford to renew their memberships. Please let me know and I can put you in touch with Elizabeth George, our new AGO Director of Member Engagement and Chapter Development. They have asked that chapter leadership contact them, rather than members calling directly.

College Scholarship Opportunity
The Ronald G. Pogorzelski and Lester D. Yankee Memorial Scholarships support the undergraduate education of young organists. The online application period for a 2021–22 scholarship award begins January 1 and ends February 15. One scholarship of $15,000 will be awarded to an entering college freshman. This scholarship is renewable annually through the recipient’s senior year if certain requirements are met. Click here for more Information.
The coronavirus outbreak has had quite an adverse effect on the AGO certification exam process, leading to either delays or outright cancellation of last spring’s exams. Now that we have begun a new exam cycle, for the safety of all involved the following regulations need to be carefully observed.
Click here to learn more. Anyone having difficulty finding an appropriate venue for a Service Playing test or Colleague exam due to restrictions in place caused by the pandemic should contact the director of the Committee on Professional Certification, André Lash, FAGO, in order to explore possible
The Placement Chairperson is Chris Hatcher. To submit a position listing, please contact him via e-mail at email@example.com.
