Message from the Dean

Welcome to our chapter website! Our chapter serves organists, choir directors, and organ enthusiasts in Kalamazoo, Portage, Battle Creek, Marshall, Coldwater, Schoolcraft, Centreville, Three Rivers, Sturgis, St. Joseph, Berrien Springs, South Haven, Paw Paw, Mattawan, and Richland.

Deanly Paragraphs
Please join me in looking forward to our next two chapter meetings which should be of great interest to our members. This month’s “field trip” is well noted on page one of this issue [see this month’s ORGANizer]. We have the opportunity to hear some remarkable and historic instruments. I have played the Odell organ in Hastings; it is a rather unique example of the late nineteenth century. I look forward to visiting the Ionia instruments as well. It looks like we will also have a beautiful fall drive day.

In November we will have the opportunity to hear the Three Chorals of French organist Cesar Franck on a sympathetic instrument — that being the Martin Ott at First Congregational Battle Creek. Franck and his organ music hold an honored position in the repertoire available to organists. His works are also honored for the influence they held on the next generation of composers. The Choarle in A Minor is Franck’s last work. Do plan to be with us!. –Mark Wells
Let us rejoice and be glad!
