AGO Eastern Idaho Chapter

Upcoming Events:

Saturday, December 7 | 7:30 P.M. | BYU-Idaho Center | Award winning vocalist, six-time Grammy nominee, and internationally acclaimed opera star Frederica von Stade will join the Sonos Handbell Ensemble and BYU-Idaho’s Performing Arts groups in this year’s A BYU-Idaho Christmas. The organ will again play a prominent role. Tickets $12 at byui.edu/tickets (or at the box office).

Katelyn Fitzen Senior Organ Recital
Saturday, March 30, 1:30 PM, Barrus Concert Hall, BYU-Idaho

2nd South at Center Street, Rexburg

Katelyn’s senior degree recital will feature music of Bach, Vierne, Alain, Mendelssohn,
Rheinberger, de Grigny, and Robert Cundick. If you can’t make it to campus to hear her live,
you can live-stream the event at byui.edu/music/live.

 

Lenten Organ Recitals at First Presbyterian Church
Wednesdays, April 3 and 10, 12 noon, First Presbyterian Church

202 South 7th Avenue, Pocatello

These 30-minute recitals feature Shelley Hardin and David Parry on April 3, and ISU voice
students of Dr. Kathleen Lane with Gerry Hughes playing the Bach F-minor Prelude and Fugue
on April 10.

Paul Barte is the former dean of the Eastern Idaho Chapter and is a member of the music faculty at the Ohio University School of Music.

Regional Competition for Young Organists – Saturday February 23, 11:00 AM, First Presbyterian Church, 202 S. 7th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho

All are welcome to come and support two local organ students who will be competing in our chapter’s AGO Regional Competition for Young Organists.  The winner will go on to compete at the regional level this summer at the AGO Regional Convention in Orange County, California.  Each competitor will perform three solo works and a hymn.

 

 

Eastern-IdahoOn July 28, 2016, members of the Eastern Idaho Chapter met to honor Dr. Darwin Wolford and to  celebrate his 80th Birthday.

Please email chapter news reports (not newsletters) to chapternews@agohq.org All reports received are published. Please include name of chapter, date of event, city or town in which event took place. Report recent activities only; do not list future events. Include names of active participants who are AGO members. Photos: Only unmodified high-resolution TIFF or JPG files (300 dpi) are acceptable for electronic submission (send as attachments). Deadline for submission is two months prior to issue date.
