AGO Identifies New Home for
Tracker Organ Bequeathed
to the Guild

The Ronald G. Pogorzelski and Lester D. Yankee Pipe Organ was bequeathed to the American Guild of Organists (AGO) "in furtherance of the AGO's charitable purposes and for the teaching of music to organ students." The donors directed that "the organ be housed and utilized for the purposes benefitting its nature, quality, and stature, and not used as a practice instrument." The 24-rank, 21-stop instrument, was built by R.J. Brunner & Co. in 1990.
After reviewing many fine proposals from academic institutions interested in housing the AGO's organ, the AGO Development Committee, in close consultation with the Executor of the Pogorzelski/Yankee estate, selected the Manhattan School of Music in New York City as the most suitable location for the organ. The AGO is working closely with the School, the Executor, and the organbuilder to schedule installation and a series of dedicatory events.
The AGO is grateful to all those institutions who expressed interest in the organ.
