Message from the Dean |
| Welcome to the web page for the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. We are an active organization of about 90 members promoting organ and sacred choral music.
We are excited to be hosting the upcoming AGO Region IX Mid-Winter Convention PIPES IN THE DESERT, to be held January 20-24, 2008, in Tucson, Arizona. We're looking forward to a splendid variety of recitals, concerts, and workshops from some exceptional artists. Highlights: Paul Jacobs, electrifying performer and chair of Juilliard's organ department, presenting a recital and teaching a Master Class; Michael Burkhardt, composer extraordinaire, leading a rousing hymn festival in his own unique style, as well as giving a workshop on hymn-playing; Millennia Too!, captivating California duo with organist Alison Luedecke and oboist Susan Barrett; Richard Elliott, superb Mormon Tabernacle organist; Pamela Decker, Tucson's own gifted composer and professor of organ at the University of Arizona; The Phoenix Bach Choir, one of the most acclaimed choral groups in the nation, singing in the venerable St. Augustine Cathedral; Kimberly Marshall, the Goldman Professor of Organ at Arizona State University, presenting a lecture-recital on Mexican organs and music; The outstanding Arizona Choir from the University of Arizona; The world-famous Tucson Arizona Boys' Chorus providing service music with Joel Martinson's Missa Guadalupe; Virtuoso Ron Rhode at the theater organ; and Festive mariachi music, a Tucson specialty. Please visit our conclave website www.agoixaz.com for more information. We invite you to join the Southern Arizona Chapter of the AGO by contacting the Membership Chair or the Dean.
