Message from the Dean

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Well, the lazy, hazy days of summer will soon be over and we'll all be getting back into our usual routines. I trust your summer has afforded you a chance to relax and recharge your batteries. I know that I feel invigorated and ready to launch into the fall season.

Let me take this opportunity to sincerely congratulate the Program Committee for their outstanding job of planning our upcoming season. The events reflect a broad range of interest and should attract a good attendance. As Dean, let me urge each one of you to support our chapter by your participation at each event.

Also, on behalf of myself, personally, and the chapter as a whole, I want to express our gratitude to Fran Meyers for her steadfast commitment to preparing the newsletter and all that she does for the chapter. Furthermore, our Chapter Secretary, Cheryl Holzer and our Treasurer, Timothy Degen deserve special thanks along with all of you who choose to assist and support our chapter. We are so very blessed with such a delightful group of warm and caring people.

In closing, A CHALLENGE TO THE ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP!! I propose that we pledge to increase our membership by ten new members as of June 2008. This will put our number of members back in the mid-fifties where we were some ten years ago. I am confident we can reach this goal. Let's do it!

God Bless each one of you and your families.

Howard McCullough, Dean

Kris Waldner and Sally Fay used their scholarship money to attend POE+ (adults) at Baylor University in Waco, TX. The other winners will use the funds for individual study. Sally and Kris spoke to the members at our first meeting on September 16, to tell of their Adult POE trip to Waco this past summer. As Chairperson, I am grateful to Leslie Wolf Robb and the San Diego Chapter for letting us use their guidelines for the auditions. It is my hope that in the future our auditions will grow to more participants on piano and organ.

PUBLICITY CHAIRMAN

Former Dean Charlotte Atkinson has kindly agreed to be the Chapter Publicity Chairman. The chapter is more grateful that a busy person such as she will do this for her chapter. For many, many years, Charlotte has been a faithful member. She and her husband, Bill, were charter members of the Palomar Chapter since the late 1960's when there was a La Jolla Chapter for all of San Diego County. She and Bill always looked for ways to keep our chapter going. Thank you Charlotte!!
