Message from the Dean

Greetings,
I hope this writing finds each of you well and recovered from Easter. Our final meeting of the year will be Sunday, May 5, beginning at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be a Cinco De Mayo party at my house (see directions on page three). Ed LeRoy will send out a formal notification with details and an RSVP request shortly. I look forward to welcoming you to my home for food, drink, and a chance to visit with you in a social setting.
It has been a pleasure to serve as your Dean for the 2012-2013 season and I look forward to serving again for the 2013-2014 season. I hope that you have found the programs this year to be informative. Todd Monsell, our Sub-Dean and program chair has worked tirelessly to put together both programs and facilitators. I would like to commend him for an excellent job. Ed LeRoy has served as our Secretary-Treasurer and has done a stellar job of keeping minutes of board meetings, staying on top of chapter records and making sure we are solvent. Thank you Ed! George Hubbard has provided us with informative newsletters and maintenance of our web site. Well done George. You are appreciated. Mark Bebensee, Suzanne Jeter, Nancy Lefter and Jason Pedeaux have lent wonderful support to the board and have my sincere gratitude.
If you have specific needs that have not been adequately addressed this season, please let any of the above mentioned board members know. We are now planning next season’s programs and our goal is to provide you with the information and repertoire you need to make your jobs easier.

Tom Bailey, Dean

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE AGO NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS:
In an effort to increase the value of the benefits package for AGO voting members, access to the Positions Available listings on the AGO National Web site has been limited exclusively to AGO voting members as of Monday, December 15. It is appropriate that these listings should be made available only to voting members, since members' dues pay for the operation of the Guild's Web site and maintenance of its job postings board. In addition, this new limitation will ensure that only those organists who have agreed to abide by the AGO's Code of Ethics and Code of Professional Standards will have access to the jobs advertised on the AGO's Web site.

IMPORTANT MEMBER LOGIN INFORMATION
When you go to view the details of a Position Available online, you will be asked to fill in a User Name and Password. Your User Name and Password will be your unique AGO identification number. This number is located above your name on the address label that appears on your copy of TAO each month. When prompted to fill in the User Name and Password fields, please enter your ID number in both fields to gain access to the details of all job openings. This login procedure may be further refined and enhanced in the weeks ahead.

We look forward to providing this valuable benefit exclusively to AGO voting members. The Guild is widely recognized by religious institutions as the world's largest and most prestigious association for professional organists, and this new policy will help us to preserve and protect our well-deserved reputation for excellence.

If you have any questions about this change, please feel free to contact AGO Headquarters during business hours at 212-870-2310 or e-mail us at members@agohq.org.

Shopping for American Guild of Organists gifts is easy. All merchandise can be ordered online at www.agohq.org/store or by phoning AGO store manager Harold Calhoun, 212-870-2311 (ext. 4318) or 800-AGO-5115. Additionally, orders can be placed via postal mail using the order form found on page 9 of each issue of The American Organist Magazine. All orders totaling $30 or more will qualify for a free gift: a CD recording of 2006 NYACOP winner Scott Montgomery.

The organ at Grace Episcopal Church was originally a three-manual instrument with 26 ranks of pipes. The design of this organ has been carefully revised and enhanced over the years. The current project was conceived in conjunction with major building renovations. It includes relocating the Positiv division with additions, the creation of a new Solo division and other tonal changes (changes/additions are noted with ++.)
